Show us your hairstyles over the years.
Submitted by Lena Katrin.
This is when I had locs back in the mid-90s or so. In total, I had the locs for 7 years and cut them off about 6 years ago . Prior to this I had various hairstyles over the years and various colors. I'd been straightened, relaxed, crimped, and natural with such styles as the A-symmetrical bob (a la Klymaxx). In fact I had a couple of those Klymaxx styles in the 80s.
To grow it back, I went through various stages of cornrows.
This was one of the interim stages of a cornrowed mohawk.
And then it got dyed.
And then it got twisted.
And then it got pressed.
(Please be advised, various portions of this hair story may have been left out to protect the innocent. That innocent being me.)

Book: Show us the latest book you bought, borrowed or received.
Given the amount of social networking sites I belong to, I figured this would be a good read. I heard my boss telling someone else about the book, and got him to let me order it as required work reading.
Though the book was published in 2003, it still seems totally relevant to today.
From the publisher's site:
"Linked could alter the way we think about all of the networks that affect our lives." —The New York Times
A cocktail party.? A terrorist cell.? Ancient bacteria.? An international conglomerate.
All are networks, and all are a part of a surprising scientific revolution. Albert-László Barabási, the nation’s foremost expert in the new science of networks, takes us on an intellectual adventure to prove that social networks, corporations, and living organisms are more similar than previously thought. Grasping a full understanding of network science will someday allow us to design blue-chip businesses, stop the outbreak of deadly diseases, and influence the exchange of ideas and information. Just as James Gleick brought the discovery of chaos theory to the general public, Linked tells the story of the true science of the future.
